David is Senior Creative Manager at Target within the Creative Vision Group, an internal brand consultancy that identifies the marketing white space for business categories and finds innovative ways to fill it. As coach to partner agencies, the team brings brand strategy to life in messaging and visual expressions that further the brand and drive trips to the store.
David brings 13 years of design and leadership experience to this role. Prior to joining Target he held the position of Art Director at Arnell Group where his worked spanned a range of categories including the redesign of several Pepsi brands, a branding initiative for Brazil and book design for Frank Gehry.
Before joining Arnell, David worked as a Design Director at Desgrippes Gobe where he developed and managed idea driven brand experiences for clients including AOL, Procter and Gamble, and Bayer. While there he was part of the team that developed and successfully launched the first retail experience for the Tide brand known as "Tide Dry Cleaners." Previous clients also include Kodak, VCU Brandcenter, Dove, Coca-Cola, Ameritrade, and The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).
His work has been recognized by a number of award shows and publications including the New York Times, ID Magazine, Adage and Business Week. In addition to his professional work, David maintains an active role in the local and national design community by teaching and mentoring young designers at Oberlin College and the graduate communications program at VCU Brandcenter.
David holds a Master of Fine Arts in Design from the School of Visual Arts (2005) and a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College (1998).
